Strange
[edit]One would think that there would be a little bit of discussion regarding the wealthiest black American. I have a few ideas that I would like to present. Wikipietime (talk) 16:06, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
Race of wife
[edit]"Smith married his first wife and a fellow Cornell alum Suzanne McFayden Smith, who is black, in 1988. They were married for 22 years before they separated in 2010; their divorce was finalized in 2014. Smith remarried Hope Dworaczyk, a former Playboy playmate, healthy living advocate, and fashion editor, on July 25, 2015" Why specify the race for one wife and not the other? 23.113.53.110 (talk) 16:32, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
- Well spotted. Have removed that, and tweaked the whole section. Edwardx (talk) 16:39, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
Tax Evasion
[edit]I recommend that Smith's tax evasion case should be included at the bottom of the lead paragraph. The situation is notable and highly unusual, and it generated a significant number of high-quality, reliable sources. Before doing so, I wanted to bring it to the Talk page table and ensure consensus. Pistongrinder (talk) 01:04, 30 January 2021 (UTC)
Disfunction
[edit]Why are we not trying to establish creditability between ourselves? We are all wanting something so similar. Mr. Smith did a bunch of shit....but what he did mostly is show that ANYBODY CAN GET IT! 162.191.204.30 (talk) 11:16, 21 March 2024 (UTC)
Vandalism on page
[edit]There appears to be some vandalism attempts on the page by editor Janestreetres, so unsure why their edits are receiving the benefit of the doubt. Nevertheless, here's a detailed explanation as to why I made the changes I did:
- Change to lede - too much info in there - lede should only contain most pertinent info, so removed both the Morehouse college and Tax case info
- Heading - change "avoided indictment: non-prosecution agreement and heavy tax fine" - this heading is extremely biased and doesn't even make sense. "Avoided indictment" - well, he wasn't indicted according to the text, so it shouldn't be in the heading.
- removed info in the tax fine section - the info in parantheses about the specifics of the fine was copyrighted, as was the sentence immediately after - can't have copyright violations on wiki. Additionally, the sentence that began "According to the DOJ" was removed due to the source not verifying that info.
- Lastly, removed a sentence in the philanthropy section stating that Smith's philanthropic donation amount was notably similar to what he owed in back taxes...Notable to whom? This addition was clearly biased and doesn't belong in the philanthropy section.
Those are all the changes I made. If there's any question or confusion I'd suggest reading up on Wikipedia's neutral POV guidelines and five pillars (Wikipedia:Neutral point of view) (Wikipedia:Five pillars) before making changes to the page. Everything I reverted contained pretty rudimentary Wikipedia errors, so if you're confused about these changes my friendly suggestion would be to read up on the guidelines.
